The .SE country-specific top-level domain was established in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its launch, the registration procedure was pretty restrictive, so a very low number of domains were ordered. Persons could buy solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a necessity, i.e. merely Swedish persons, businesses and organizations were able to register a .SE domain.
