An Operating System is the software that interacts with the hardware of a computer system and is the intermediary between apps and the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a printer, a computer mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transfers requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). A lot like a personal computer, hosting servers also have an Operating System that serves as a host for all the software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and many others. A virtual machine can be created on a physical one, so it is possible to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to pick from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license fees, but they are also considered to be among the most stable and risk-free OSs. We offer three different ones because each of them is supported by a separate community. The packages that you could add on your web server are different and this could matter if you want to install some piece of software with particular requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the internet hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the Operating System that you'll choose. You can choose any of the three Operating Systems during the order procedure, but if necessary, we can always set up the server anew with an alternative one upon your request. As an optional service that you may add to the plan at any moment, we can update the OS on a regular basis to keep it as secure as possible.
